On 28 January, the NewEcoSmart consortium met in Naples, Italy, for a transnational project meeting organised by the prestigious Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II.
The meeting marked a significant step for the partners, as members collaborated on defining strategies and implementing the next steps for the pilot programmes in Spain, Portugal and Italy – all of which are now officially underway. The main discussions centred on the NES Open Call, the Learning Toolkit, the sustainability of the project and essential management aspects.
Special thanks go to our pilot leaders – AMUEBLA, ADELO, and Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II – who provided valuable insights into regional initiatives and participants’ active engagement with the NES Learning Toolkit and the NES approach.
We invite you to explore the NES Learning Toolkit, specially tailored for adults 45 and older, and discover its innovative contributions to enhancing digital, green, and entrepreneurship skills.
Following the meeting, on January 29th, the consortium visited Bacoli, where they explored Lake Fusaro, the largest lake of the Phlegraean Fields. The lake holds immense cultural and historical significance, deeply rooted in Greek mythology and Mediterranean civilization. However, it remains far from reaching its full potential. Archaeological sites in the area should be enhanced as cultural assets, while the lake’s volcanic nature offers valuable resources for regional development. Biodiversity plays a crucial role in managing the territory and must be protected from pollution and unregulated settlements, which could lead to environmental degradation.
During the visit, the consortium observed the impressive results of the WAVE – Water Areas Vision for Europe project. This initiative has developed a documented and transferable methodology for online courses on integrated planning and sustainable water landscape design. It has also significantly enhanced water-related knowledge and transformative competence among students, staff, and society partners.
As the NewEcoSmart consortium moves forward, the collective commitment to sustainability, innovation and collaboration remains stronger than ever. Through ongoing partnerships and proactive initiatives, the consortium continues to make a lasting impact on regional development and environmental responsibility. Stay tuned for more updates as we work towards a smarter, greener future.
