Work-Package 2 will end with a Co-designed social innovation solutions toolkit

The first year of the NewEcoSmart project is coming to an end and the consortium has now completed the activities related to Work-package 2 “Co-design of NewEcoSmart social innovation methods and map of skills”.

In the first phase, a multilevel analysis was conducted in the three countries involved. These activities included, first, a survey of workers and SMEs to understand the level and needs of the population of the pilot locations in terms of Twin Transition. Secondly, an analysis of the different national policies on the same topic, and the degree to which European directives have been transposed into the legislative systems of Spain, Portugal and Italy. Finally, a research and selection of good practices on the topic was carried out, with, of course, a special focus on habitat in rural areas.

In the last months, to this first study phase, followed a second one aimed at creating a level of discussion, comparison and co-development with stakeholders and territories, culminating in the creation of the Co-designed social innovation solutions toolkit, which will be soon ready.

Specifically, from April to June, three workshops were held at the national level and one at the international level with the aim of creating a dimension of confrontation between experts on Twin Transition and rural areas, on the one hand, and the stakeholders and communities involved, on the other.

Finally, between June and July, collective co-mapping sessions of social innovation methods were held in the three pilot sites, co-developed with the direct involvement of 45+ people and SMEs. These activities will contribute to facilitating community-driven processes of social innovation and promoting new solutions of design and production, community-based business models concerning the Habitat sector.

With the closure of this Work-Package 2, NewEcoSmart will step forward to the second half of its life spawn and the running of Pilot Sites.
