An international workshop entitled “NewEcoSmart – Innovation for Rural Territories” was recently held in Portugal, bringing together the main stakeholders in rural development, sustainability and innovation. The event, co-organised by AD ELO, SHINE 2Europe, the CTIC Technology Centre and the Municipality of Montemor-o-Velho, took place on 6 May at the Afonso Duarte Municipal Library. This workshop allowed the participants to gain valuable knowledge about the project’s objectives and explore best practices for dealing with the ecological and digital transition.
The workshop included presentations on NewEcoSmart, along with inspiring examples of successful initiatives that are driving positive change in Portugal’s rural areas:
- Compastagem em MOVimento: This nationwide programme led by the Municipality of Montemor-o-Velho is a shining example of successful composting initiatives.
- Priority 45 Project: This project addresses the crucial need to upskill and reskill adults over 45 by providing accessible e-learning opportunities.
One of the main highlights of the event was the launch of NewEcoSmart’s “Green and Digital Diagnostic Tool”. This easy-to-use online tool will be available soon on the project’s website.
