
The NewEcoSmart (NES) initiative is excited to announce that the submission phase of the Open Call for 2024 has concluded successfully, with 11 applications received.
We extend our thanks to all participants and interested organizations for their enthusiasm and commitment to revitalizing rural communities through green and digital innovation.
Currently, our team is thoroughly analysing the eligibility of the applications and will start the technical evaluation process in the coming days. We aim to identify the most impactful and innovative solutions that align with the goals of the NES project.
About the Open Call
Launched with the mission of supporting creative solutions that will empower rural communities throughout Europe, the NES Open Call focuses on fostering social innovation in the fields of green and digital transformation. Targeting micro-firms, SMEs, and individuals aged 45+, this initiative awards three grants, one for each NES experimental site in Spain, Portugal, and Italy, with a total funding of €49,500 (up to €16,500 per project).
Applicants were encouraged to propose solutions addressing:
- Digital Skills: Bridging the digital divide in rural areas.
- Green Skills: Promoting sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
- Habitat Sector: Driving the transition to circular and sustainable economic models.
- Social Innovation: Enhancing community engagement and education.
Next Steps
Following eligibility and technical evaluations, selected candidates will be notified, and grant agreements will be signed by the end of January 2025. Projects will then begin implementation in the NES pilot sites, demonstrating their impact and functionality within four months.
