The Spanish pilot of NewEcoSmart organised two successful mind mapping sessions to Drive Ecological and Technological Progress

In June 2024, the NewEcoSmart project successfully conducted two pivotal mind mapping sessions (Creative Eco-minds in the Habitat Sector”) in its Spanish Pilot. These sessions, organized by CETEM, AMUEBLA, and the City Council of Yecla, aimed to develop innovative solutions to help the habitat sector adapt to the digital and ecological transitions. The first session took place on 11th Jun. This inaugural session titled ” gathered 10 participants, including representatives from pilot organizations, teachers, habitat experts, self-employed individuals, public employees from the employment and training office, and students. The session underscored the critical role of collaboration and highlighted the sector’s eagerness for improvement. It concluded with a collective agreement on the most viable solutions, emphasizing the importance of educating consumers about the circular economy, supporting companies with demonstrators of good practices, and fostering mutual commitment between workers and companies. The second session included another 10 participants, featuring VET teachers, habitat SME workers, trade union representatives, and the furniture fair president. The session followed a similar structure to the first, however, the outcomes were different.  Participants proposed several innovative solutions, such as developing business models that integrate circular economy principles and digitalization, creating experimental business models in Yecla, and increasing awareness of the possibilities of technology through training and continuous measurement of digitalization levels in SMEs. In conclusion, both sessions revealed a strong commitment among stakeholders to drive ecological and technological progress in the habitat sector. The collaborative efforts and the practical solutions proposed provide a solid foundation for the NES project to advance its goals. As the project moves forward, the insights and enthusiasm generated in these sessions will be crucial in fostering a more sustainable and digitized habitat sector.
